Zinc die casting threaded fittings are small parts where a small defect can stop assembly. Thread quality, burr control and surface treatment must be planned together.

Material allowance, hole position, tool wear, coating thickness and cleaning after machining can all affect whether a thread passes gauge inspection.
| Control point | Practical note |
|---|---|
| pilot hole | must be stable before tapping |
| thread depth | should match assembly requirement |
| coating thickness | can tighten or damage threads |
| burrs | must be removed from entry edges |
Use go/no-go gauges for threaded features and inspect the surface after plating or coating, not only before finishing.

Thread inspection should happen after the final surface treatment when possible. A thread that works before plating or coating may become tight after the finish is applied.
Zinc alloy supports compact shapes and fine features. It can be a good fit for threaded fittings, connector bases and small hardware when weight is not the main design driver.
For zinc die casting threaded fittings, checking the thread before surface treatment is not always enough. Plating, coating or cleaning can change the thread condition. If the thread is critical, final inspection should happen after the last process that can affect it.
A drawing should show thread size, effective depth, tolerance or gauge requirement, and whether coating is allowed inside the thread. If the thread connects to a customer-supplied mating part, that information is useful for functional checking.
| Thread issue | Practical prevention |
|---|---|
| tight after plating | mask or chase thread, inspect after finish |
| burr at entry | deburr and gauge check |
| weak thread depth | define effective depth on drawing |
